Felipe Fileni.
Felipe is currently pursuing a PhD in water engineering, focusing on floods and their impact on communities. Beyond his engineering expertise, he brings a rich multilingual and cultural background. Passionate about creating a better and more equitable world for future generations, Felipe joined I Exist Too to drive positive change to the maritime industry.
J. Wierski.
J. Wierski is an advocate for seafarers in matters of personal health and wellbeing, occupational safety, labor relations and human rights issues. J. has interned with Seafarers’ International House and New England Seafarers’ Mission as a ship visitor and recently graduated from University of Connecticut’s Maritime Studies program. Their research is in the areas of Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment in the maritime industry and the economic and environmental impacts of Flags of Convenience. They are currently based in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Marco (M) Sernaglia .
M is a junior assistant professor and secretary of the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Oviedo in Spain. Before embracing an academic career, M worked onboard liner container vessels and ashore both in a bulk terminal and in the logistics field at operational level.
M is also a founding member of the Seafarers Well-Being (SWELL) research team of the University of Oviedo which is conducting several innovative projects about the human factor in the maritime sector. Their current work deals with nautical cadets’ training, psychological factors, work fatigue, gender and diversity, maritime contracts, marine policy, team management and other soft skills for the industry..
Dominador III. Carunungan .
Dominador is an active Seafarer from the Philippines. A scholar of the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ), he recently graduated at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP). As a student he was able to lead AMOSUP MAAP Youth— a youth led organization focused on improving welfare of cadets and young seafarers from the Philippines. He is also a researcher with published work at the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) - Student Session. As the official representative of the Associated Marine Officers and Seaman’s union of the Philippines (AMOSUP), he will be representing the large number of Filipino seafarers worldwide.
